"The Jakobskirche is a listed [1] church in the southern Brandenburg town of Ortrand in the district of Oberspreewald-Lausitz. The church dedicated to the Apostle James the Elder is the oldest building in the city and is located in the cemetery. Today it is used by the Roman Catholic Congregation used and forms with Christ King in Lauchhammer, Painful Mother in Elsterwerda and St. Matthias in Hohenleipisch the parish of St. Hedwig in the Deanery of Torgau (Diocese of Magdeburg). The cemetery church of St. Jakobi in the Ortrand cemetery is dedicated to the apostle St. James the Elder. The listed church is considered the oldest building in the city and is now used by the Roman Catholic community as a burial church. It was built in the 13th century. It was a stop on the Way of St. James, the pilgrim route to the grave of the church patron James the Elder in Santiago de Compostela.
