Mount Ruth

This usually takes fit parties 6-8 hours to complete, involving steep ascents over loose scree and potential Class 3 scrambling.

Mount Ruth in Mount Rainier National Park is primarily an off-trail mountaineering route and is not considered suitable for beginners. It requires advanced navigation skills, experience with steep terrain, and potentially glacier travel. Hikers new to mountaineering should consider other trails within Mount Rainier National Park before attempting Mount Ruth.

Popular options include the Burroughs Mountain Trail or the Skyline Trail, which offer spectacular vistas with well-maintained paths.

There are two notable summits named Mount Ruth in Washington. The Mount Ruth in Mount Rainier National Park is an 8,690-foot peak known for its challenging off-trail mountaineering, steep scree, and Class 3 scrambling. In contrast, Ruth Mountain in North Cascades National Park is a 7,116-foot glaciated peak often considered suitable for beginners to practice glacier travel, with a more moderate approach via Hannegan Pass.
