The Berliner Elektronenspeicherring-Gesellschaft für Synchrotronstrahlung (BESSY) is the name of a research facility in Berlin that provides services to science and industry by providing synchrotron radiation.
The BESSY II synchrotron light source is operated at the Berlin-Adlershof site. Around 2,700 external guests visit BESSY II annually to conduct measurements. Construction of BESSY II in Berlin-Adlershof began on July 4, 1994, and BESSY II was inaugurated on September 4, 1998.
The project consists of a synchrotron with a circumference of 96 m, the electron storage ring with a circumference of 240 m, and an experimental hall.
