The Götzschtalbrücke is the largest brick bridge in the world and was built from 1846 to 1851 during the construction of the railway line between Leipzig and Nuremberg via Altenburg-Reichenbach-Plauen-Hof. After completion, it reached a height of 78 m and a length of 574 m. The span of the largest arch is 30.9 m. What makes the Göltzschtal Bridge stand out above all is the huge number of 26 million bricks that are on it were installed.
