This mural is on the Ping Yuen Housing Project, on the Stockton Street Side of the building. It is one of the largest Chinatown murals, painted in 1999 by Darryl Mar, a graduate of UC Irvine. He went on to get a masters in Asian American Studies from UCLA. Mr. Mar was aided by Darren Acoba, Joyce Lu and Tonia Chen. It is legendary in representing the spirit of the many renters in Chinatown, sharing one-room apartments among several generations.
