In the 13th century, in Via D'Azeglio, there was the church of S. Giovanni Battista, owned by the Order of Malta, which in 1574 sold it to the Minimi religious, called Paolotti from their founder San Francesco di Paola. In 1625, the Minimi decided to build a new church and a new convent, the works of which were completed in 1632, with the exception of the facade of the church, which was dedicated to S. Francesco di Paola and S. Giovanni Battista.
