Vandring
The museum complex consists of the historic "Villa Schönfeld" and the extension for special exhibitions, which the architect Dieter Oesterlen designed in the 1970s.
The upper floor of the Villa Schönfeld is currently being restored in accordance with the requirements of the monument. The museum team is preparing a new, more extensive permanent exhibition on the history of Herford. The entrance area of the museum will also be renovated. Therefore the museum will remain closed until further notice.
Our construction diary provides information about the construction work and preparations for the future permanent exhibition.

We are renovating - historical exhibition now virtual
The upper floor of the Villa Schönfeld is being renovated in line with the preservation order and a new foyer is being built. For this reason, the Municipal Museum will remain closed until further notice.
But you can visit our permanent exhibition on the history of the 19th and 20th centuries virtually.
