The game reserve no longer exists. Some of the fences have already been removed. The entrances are secured by gates for a while. The area is still accessible to hikers and cyclists.

Over after 60 years:
In 2021, the park was abandoned and some of the animals were relocated to other wildlife parks. The reason for this is that new guidelines stipulate minimum sizes for wildlife parks in which the animal population is regulated by hunting. The enclosure in Melle was around 30 hectares smaller than this minimum size. In addition, the advancing African swine fever was seen as a threat to the wild boar population, which last numbered around 180 animals.
