In the 19th century, the raftsmen migrated through Hottwil, after they had transported their wood from Stilli to Laufenburg across the Aare and the Rhine. In order to strengthen themselves on the way back to Stilli, which was about 20 kilometers long, they took a rest at the inn Bären.

The Gasthaus Bären Hottwil is located in the middle of the Jurapark Aargau and is right on the Flösserweg. A visit to the inn can therefore be perfectly combined with a hike.
