The Valley of the Kings, with its 64 discovered pharaoh tombs, is one of the country's most special highlights. A ticket costs 15 euros and includes free entry to the tombs.

The Valley of the Kings was used as a burial chamber and for royal burials for the kings, their families and their property for almost 11 years from the 500th to the 16th century BC. In 1979, it was declared a World Heritage Site, along with the rest of the Theban Necropolis. Discovered in 1922 by Howards Carter during an excavation expedition, one of the most important tombs in the Valley of the Kings is the tomb of the Pharaoh Tutankhamun and all his treasures. This discovery has since attracted tourists from all over the world.
