Vandring

The Protestant church from the 12th century has been renovated for several decades. The Romanesque apse was removed in the past. Of the two galleries added in the Baroque period, one was removed in the course of the renovation, which fundamentally improved the acoustics in the hall (Wikipedia).

Idyllic gem on Goethewanderweg ... with a beautiful rest area, which we used for the "breakfast".
1136 was the first written mention of the place, which then belonged to the county Berka. The name Saalborn indicates a spring in Riedgras. Once there were home weavers and basket weavers and a brickyard. In the former manor a hostel of the Lebenshilfewerk Weimar-Apolda is housed. The home club has its home in the former school. Vandring

The church is from the 12th century. At the end of the last century a unique and valuable gem was found on the church floor, a Romanesque lecture cross made of copper with traces of earlier gilding. You can find more information at: saalborn-thueringen.de/saalborn.
