The area around the old factory was called the "Olarias Quarter" when it was founded in 1917. The city of Aveiro has renovated the old ceramics factory and provided space for an auditorium, several public facilities, and the excellent Olaria Restaurant. The neighborhood includes ample lawns, the Meliá Hotel, and a basketball court.
