The Convent of Our Lady of Grace in Ávila is a place of great historical and spiritual significance, especially linked to the life of Saint Teresa of Jesus.
It was founded in the 16th century at the initiative of Mencía López, who obtained a papal bull in 1508 to establish the convent. In 1510, the Bishop of Ávila donated the hermitage of Saints Justo and Pastor to serve as the convent church.

The convent belonged to the Order of Saint Augustine and served as an educational institution for young women, teaching them embroidery and religious practices while they awaited marriage.
In 1531, Teresa of Ávila was placed there by her father, Alonso de Cepeda, with the intention of fostering her growth and development. She remained for 18 months under the tutelage of María de Briceño, who profoundly influenced her spiritual life.
