Why is the Flintbek yew special?
• Age & future: Yew trees can live for over 1000 years. The designation is intended to ensure that this tree can age gracefully.
• National importance: It is one of the 100 most important trees in Germany.
• Nature conservation: The German Dendrological Society and the Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation support the initiative.

Vandring
Flintbek church is commonly referred to as the 1000-year-old yew tree.
Measurements have shown that the tree is about 880 years old. It was already mentioned in the documents relating to the construction of the church in 1223.
The yew tree has a trunk circumference of 3.80 m (at a height of 1 m) and a height of about 12 m.
