A beautiful, really worth seeing facility with a great view over the Saale valley and the Saale-Ilm-Platte up to the mountain ranges of the Franconian Forest and the Thuringian Forest. The tower, built in 1864, is visible from afar on the 500 meter high Hummelsberg near Kleinkochberg.

Cykling

The tower was built in honor of Charlotte von Stein's granddaughter, Luise Freiin von Stein (1804–1864). Its founder was her husband, James Patrick von Parry, a wealthy Englishman of Irish descent, who also built Hirschhügel Castle. A memorial plaque commemorates the founder. The tower features late Romantic stylistic features, enhanced by the extensive battlemented wall surrounding the tower, which lends the area the character of a medieval castle. Above the entrance is the coat of arms of Parry, who was ennobled in Weimar. The spot where the tower was built is said to have been Luise von Stein's favorite spot.

From the Luisenturm, weather permitting, you have a wonderful view of the wide landscape of the Saale valley and the foothills of the Thuringian Forest. It has a great connection to the cycling and hiking network and is ideal for staying and resting. The Festival of 1,000 Lights takes place here on the last weekend in June.
