Vandring

The house of judge Christoph Lange was built in 1611 according to the date on the sill beam of the half-timbering. The beams are decorated with ship's embossing. The two-storey house with the original small window openings was built solidly on the lower floor and in half-timbering on the upper floor. The western half-timbering was later replaced by solid masonry. The half-timbering is characterized by continuous head and breast bars as well as partially preserved, simple St. Andrew's crosses. It has a tiled gable roof.

The Olbernhau/Grünthal Saigerhütte (Saiger Smelter) is of unique importance in Europe – a structural and technical testament to the history of non-ferrous metallurgy. The smelting operation was founded in 1537 to extract silver from silver-bearing black copper. For centuries, the saiger process was considered a pinnacle of metallurgy.
