Vandring
The monument was erected in 1989 through the initiative of the National Guard Association of the United States, the municipality of Vierville-sur-Mer, and other supporters. It commemorates the soldiers of the 29th Infantry Division of the National Guard, who achieved a decisive breakthrough against the German defenses at this site. The three flags in front of the monument—the US, French, and National Guard flags—are regularly renewed to withstand the weather conditions.
