This bronze statue by Richard Stravitz is dedicated to surfer Josh Thompson, who was diagnosed with ALS in 2006. It stands at the end/beginning of the Virginia Beach Boardwalk.

This playground is the first playground in America that is 100% suitable for handicapped children. The idea comes from the Thompson family, whose son, sitting in a wheelchair, had to stay behind on the beach. He looks great, is super designed and a wonderful idea.
