The former town hall on the Marktplein in Uithoorn was built between 1936 and 1937. The previous town hall is now home to the restaurant ‘Geniet aan de Amstel’.
Michel Koot, the eldest son of the then mayor C.M.A. Koot, laid the foundation stone of the building designed by the architects Grandpré Molière and Verhagen, an exponent of the Delft School. During the war years, the town hall was a secret contact address where ration cards and identity cards were ‘arranged’.
