1859-1860 during the construction of the St. Petersburg-Warsaw railway line, Turmante in 1862. a class IV train station was built. Back in 1862 it was called Novoaleksandrovsk station (after the nearby Zaras, then called Novoaleksandrovsk), later renamed Turmant. The station was halfway between Dūkštas Railway Station (21 gates) and Kalkūnai Railway Station (17 gates).
