Catholic priest Jerzy Popiełuszko is the heroic chaplain of Solidarity. He supported workers, said masses for the homeland, which made him a victim of the communist propaganda apparatus, and then he was brutally murdered by officers of the state Security Service in 1984.
Being next to this monument today, I did not know that on this day - June 6, is the fourteenth anniversary of the beatification of Fr. Jerzy Popiełuszko.
