Another forecourt, to the side of the picturesque half-timbered building of the old sexton's house - today a town hall, built around 1800 as the first village school - and the school building of the 19th century, connects the village street with the cemetery and the white-painted brick church. None of the many Romanesque churches in Angeln today show the style of their construction, the first third of the 13th century, as stylishly as St. Marien in Boren.
