Its history goes back to the end of the 8th or the beginning of the 9th century.
The original patron saint was Our Lady, but Saint Nicholas was probably added as patron saint after the transfer of the parish to the Premonstratensian abbey of Dielegem (Jette), whose monks provided the ministry until the French Revolution.
The statue of Christ the King, located to the southeast, was inaugurated on June 3, 1956, see inscription with chronogram 'May all parishioners always give you praise'. (M+C+L+L+C+I+V+D+L+C=1956)
