The location of the Church of Santa Maria de Fatima in Chinatown, the commercial center of Chinese Indonesians, seems unusual. One would rather expect Buddhist, Tao and Confucius temples.
The church was built in 1953 after a local resident sold the land. Santa Maria de Fatima was not built in a typical architectural style of traditional Catholic churches, but is strongly influenced by the southern Chinese architectural style.
