Historical military facility. The facility was established in 1895 for the Württemberg Army (many horse stables). Later used by the Wehrmacht to practice the Winter War. In 1944, the Vlasov Army was stationed there. Used by the French occupation troops until 1992 and administration of the former military training area.
Today, there is a visitor center for the biosphere reserve there, among other things.

In addition, there are now many small workshops and shops selling regional products, mostly open at weekends.

The Old Camp in Münsingen, in the Reutlingen district of Baden-Württemberg, is a former military barracks dating from the German Empire of the late 19th century, and has been a listed historical monument since 1996.

The former training ground of the XIII Royal Württemberg Army Corps was established in 1895 on the Swabian Alb. The barracks for enlisted men, lieutenants, and officers, the provisions depot, and the officers' mess hall, built at that time, have remained almost unchanged in their external appearance to this day.
