The dragon tree near Las Tricias is a striking plant, considered a symbol of the island of La Palma and holding special significance for the indigenous Guanches. It is known for its red "dragon's blood" sap, its sword-shaped leaves that grow like tufts on the branches, and its great age, which cannot be determined by counting tree rings. The area around Las Tricias is also known for the historic Guanche caves and an old gofio mill.
