The building was constructed around 1800 by Eberhard Blezinger, grandson of Johann Georg Bletzinger. In 1832, the Königliche Hüttenwerke bought the building and continued to use it as a turning shop. In 1902, the Burr family from Heidenheim acquired the building ensemble consisting of a residential building and workshop and used the workshop from then on as a file grinding shop. At that time, the water wheel was still used to drive the transmissions and grindstones.
