First, we visited the island of Philae today. You can get there in small motorboats. Philae is dominated by the Temple of Isis. It was originally located on another island that was submerged by the Aswan High Dam. In 1979, the temple was sawn into pieces and rebuilt here true to its original form. In the Temple of Isis, you can see the goddess Isis, with cow horns and a sun disk on her head, receiving gifts. The temple was also used for a time by Coptic Christians. The Coptic cross on one of the pillars testifies to this.
