The port of Port Ghalib is beautifully designed and still has a lot of potential. You can see to what extent the surrounding banks and islands that are connected by bridges should be further developed. Hopefully it will be possible given the current downturn in tourism.

Nasser al-Kharafi, one of the richest men in the world, had Port Ghalib built in the early 2000s. It was to be a luxury holiday resort with an airport (Marsa Alam) nearby. Port Ghalib was to cover over 31 million square meters, and 200,000 people were to live and vacation here, but only on the model. After the monarch's death (2011), his son issued a construction stop.

However, there is a marina, some hotels, restaurants and shops.

Today, many safari boats head to the harbor to explore the most beautiful diving spots around Marsa Alam.
