The church is the first documented building in Vilafant and is located in the old town of the municipality.
It is a Romanesque building from the 12th century, which was expanded in the 13th century and renovated at the end of the 18th century, after suffering damage caused mainly by French soldiers during the Thirty Years' War. The façade of the church is very characteristic and you can see the different construction stages that the church has gone through.
Currently the church serves as the parish of the municipality of Vilafant and religious festivities are celebrated.
