Tempio di Romolo is a small circular building in the Roman Forum, which was originally part of the Tempio della Pace complex. It was converted into a temple by Emperor Massenzio in the fourth century AD in honor of his son Valerio Romolo, who died young and was deified. The temple has a bronze door and a dome with an oculus. Later the temple was connected to the Basilica of Santi Cosma e Damiano, which still exists today. You can visit the temple with the same ticket as the Colosseum and the Roman Forum.

The Temple of Romulus. It was spared from demolition in the Middle Ages because it was used as a vestibule for a church.

That is why the metal door was not melted down.

Temple of Romulus, located between the Temple of Antoninus Pius and Faustina and the Basilica of Maxentius. A brick rotunda with a dome. In the 6th century, it was converted into the Church of Cosma e Damiano, along with the remains of the Templum Pacis, and is therefore well preserved.
