The National Playing Card Museum, also simply the Playing Card Museum, was opened in October 1965 and has been housed in an old factory building in Turnhout since 1988. This museum documents the history, use and manufacture of the playing card.

Turnhout is a center of the graphic industry with the playing card as its best-known product.
By printing the first playing card in 1826, Brepols was the founder. Soon others followed his example and there were 7 factories. These merged to form Carta Mundi.
Nowadays, around 700,000 games are made here every day.
The museum shows the development that the playing card has undergone, but also the evolution of the production of the playing card.
There is also a collection of printing presses and tools that are completely unique, including a steam engine from the 19th century.

The museum tells the history of playing cards and printing presses, worth a visit! It is impressive to see the restored drive mechanism - which used to run on steam - in operation, with which all machines were driven.
