This is one of those hills where the view from the actual trig point is actually not as good as from just down below it: this is because the flat Dodd Fell plateau hides the actual view a bit. From West Cam Road, just one minute to the west, you will have amazing views towards Yorkshire's Three Peaks in one direction (south) and Great Shunner Fell in the other (north).

Dodd Fell Hill - 668m / 2192ft.
Commencing in Gayle and joining the Pennine Way is the recommended route. Off the Pennine Way there is a faint path and small cairn that will lead you to the summit.

I walked to Dodd Fell from the car park at Beggarmans Road. So I came up from the south across some rough country following a wall. It wasn't too bad, but my down route was from the trig point down the faint path/small cairn (see Yorkshire Hiker's comment). The latter is the best route. I would praise the views, but it wasn't the best of weather days.
