The church was built in the 13th century by monks of the Dominican Order. During the Frankish period, Andravida was the capital of the Principality of Achaia, and this church served as the metropolis of the Catholic bishops until the 15th century.

three-aisled basilica with a wooden roof and a length of over 45 meters. Today, only the sanctuary (the altar area) remains. The Gothic pointed arches in the vaults and openings are characteristic.
The building was constructed of
porous stone, incorporating spolia (building components) from older ancient or Byzantine buildings.
