The lake can be reached from the surrounding towns of Wermsdorf (about 2 km from the lake), Nerchau (8 km away) and Kühren-Burkartshain (about 8 km away).
The Horstsee is located in the catchment area of Wermsdorf, which is around 2 kilometers from the lake.
