Due to the tectonic plate movement, a salt layer approximately 5 km deep is pushed to the surface. This was caused by evaporation of water from the Pacific. With such a thick salt crust, some water must have evaporated. Except for a few rats, no animals live here. A very interesting place.

The salt crystals in the rocks in the Valle de la Luna look fascinating and beautiful! There are a lot of them to be seen here. And if you listen, you can hear the crystals or the rocks cracking and crackling.
