A little hidden by the surrounding buildings and by the tourist places nearby, but it's worth the detour to go there and find a little peace and quiet.

The Church of the Savior (Sotira) of Lykodemos, the largest medieval building in Athens, is also called the Russian Church because the Russians bought and restored the building in the 19th century and is one of the most important Byzantine monuments of the 11th century. It is an arched octagon with a low roof and high, three-sided apses. From the 19th century the church was dedicated to the Holy Trinity (Agia Triada). It is the parish church of the Russian community in Athens.
The bell tower was donated by Tsar Alexander the Second.
