Vandring

The Monastery of St. John sits like a fortress high on the mountain in the middle of the wonderful old white houses of Chora. (The Monastery of St. John and Chora are world heritage sites.) The monastery can be seen from afar when you take the boat to Patmos. A visit is always worthwhile, as there is so much interesting to discover and experience there.

The monastery, located at an altitude of 260 meters, was founded in 1088 by Abbot Christodouloa and dominates the Chóra of Pátmos with its true appearance. In addition to a valuable book from the 11th century, the museum offers numerous art treasures that are well worth seeing.
