Church built in 1858-1860 on the spot where a church previously stood. The first mentions of Vlekkem as a parish date back to 1117.
The patron saint, Lambertus, was bishop of Maastricht in the seventh century and - together with Willibrordus - missionary to Kempen and North Brabant.
In 1992, a new Stations of the Cross was installed in the church, made by Herman De Somer, the artist who also made the Sopeters statue that stands in front of the church.
