The church has a four-leaf cruciform floor plan, a square entrance, and a base covered by a dome. Its current appearance is undoubtedly quite different from its earlier appearance, when the exterior was covered with hewn stone, which can now only be seen from below. It was probably decorated with mosaics and frescoes on the interior. It appears as if the unskilled master built it completely spontaneously, without precise measurements or models.

The church was built at the intersection of the roads leading to Punat, Krk, Kornić and Vrbnik, at the foot of the Punat Bay by the sea.

The church was first mentioned in 1565, when Bishop Pietro Bembo visited the area and interviewed witnesses who stated that the church was donated by Bishop Donato della Torre (1484-1515) to the owners of the land around Kornić. After his death, they sold the land, which was followed by a period of decay of the buildings. During Bishop Donato's visit, the poor condition of the church was noted. It was noted that there was no floor or door, while only the altar remained.
