the legend of the man wrongly sentenced to the gallows is not a symbol of the city but is also a symbol of Portugal.
The condemned said to the judge, before I am hanged the cock will crow and that happened, the judge rushed to the gallows, but too late... Fortunately, the divided one was saved, either by a broken rope or by a saint.

In my photo you see an image of the hanged man on the gallows saved by a saint, the origin of the legend carved in stone in front of the ruin.
