Vandring
The Western Breithorn is the first “four-thousander” on the border between Italy and Switzerland. It extends eastwards to its summit, the Roccia Nera, and forms a mountain range together with the Middle and Eastern Breithorn. The southern face of the mountain is completely covered by the Great Glacier of Verra, which only reveals small stony sections in dry years.
The excursion can easily be done in one day using the cable car from Cervinia. However, an overnight stay at the Rifugio Guide del Cervino on the Plateau Rosà is recommended so that you can acclimatize accordingly.
