The history of the Friedenseiche am Hirzbach began in the Second World War, when the tree was dedicated by a French prisoner of war and forced laborer to peace and reconciliation between Germans and Frenchmen. In the meantime, this Westerwald oak is even pictured on the bottles of a southern French wine.
