Considered as a work of civil engineering, to this day, its exact chronology is still uncertain, although it has its first documentary references during medieval times; For many, its construction in Roman times is likely, in fact, it is known as the "Roman Bridge of Colloto" thanks to a treasure of coins that was found during the Civil War in the arches of the bridge and in which there were coins from the 4th and 5th centuries.

The beautiful medieval bridge of Colloto is located on the Camino de Santiago and crosses the waters of the Nora river, which, traditionally, was the border between the councils of Oviedo and Siero.
