In 1985, Huis Hoope, now a national monument, was acquired by the Stichting Maatschappelijke Belangen (Social Interests Foundation). This foundation dates back to 1578 and is involved in, among other things, the renovation, restoration, and rental of historic buildings in Goes's city center. After the restoration, the foundation used the building as its offices.

Vandring

At the J.A. van der Goeskade built this monumental building in 1651. It is a building in the style of the classic baroque. The Sint Maartenspoort stood between this house and the Kleine Kade. When this gate was demolished around 1863, 'Huis Hoope' became the home of the bridge keeper until in 1939 the swing bridge over the harbor was replaced by a fixed bridge.

Vandring

The Hoope cellar house (J.A. van der Goeskade 69) has a striking classicist pilaster facade from 1651 with imaginative Ionic capitals and broken sandstone gables above the windows and the chessboard-like entrance path. On the street there is a sloping cellar hatch and a hardstone entrance staircase. The house, which served as a bridge keeper's house from 1863 to 1938, was restored in 1985.
