According to tradition, an amphitheater stood here in Gallo-Roman times, the remains of which can still be found within the walls of the crypt. A second religious building, built here in the 10th century, fell victim to a fire in 1134, leaving only the crypts.
The reconstruction of St. Andrew's Church was completed in the twelfth century. Other architectural modifications were added during the following centuries.
Today, the collegiate church is classified as a historic monument and serves as a performance hall.
