Vandring
The Western Scheldt has many shallow areas and strong currents. It is therefore one of the most difficult rivers to navigate. Ships on the Western Scheldt must take a pilot on board. Exceptions are smaller ships without dangerous cargo and ships that sail very frequently on the Western Scheldt.
A pilot boat sails out and brings a pilot to a ship on the Western Scheldt.
