The poem "Horvatska domovina", written by Antun Mihanović, according to some traditions, enchanted by the beauty of Zelenjak, was published on March 14, 1835, in the tenth issue of the first Croatian literary and cultural newspaper, Danica. The monument was erected on November 24, 1935, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the publication of the poem "Croatian Homeland", by the Society "Brothers of the Croatian Dragon" in honor of its author.
