South Gateway Rock, along with its sister-formation North Gateway Rock, dominates the landscape of the central Garden of the Gods area. From this spot you get great views of this beautiful red and orange sandstone formation. You also might see rock climbers on this side of it, who are actually not allowed to use white chalk so that they do no mar the natural hues of the sandstone.
