The Madonna Bridge crosses the Turritestrom, just outside the historic center of Castelnuovo Garfagnana, in the "alla Barchetta" area. It is a pedestrian bridge, built in sandstone, with two round arches and a triangular podium on the central pylon. According to tradition, and according to the "Geographical, Historical, Economic Description of the Garfagnana" by Raffaello Raffaelli, it was founded on the initiative of Borso d'Este in 1453. The bridge, blown up by the Germans during the retreat of 1945, was rebuilt in the post-war years..

The Church of the Madonna del Ponte is one of the most important churches of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana and is located in the immediate vicinity of the bridge of the same name, built in 1453. It is said that a shoemaker, bandaged by his enemy, for the pardon of the
statue of the Madonna in the old on the bridge, and once healed he had an oratory built in honor of the Virgin Mary.
